Essays in National Idealism covers nationalism through the lens of an artist. Coomaraswamy discusses how nationalism could be expressed through the kaleidoscope of arts. The book describes the revival of Indian art, which was once degenerated. Some of the interesting themes covered include the idea of struggle, the perception of Bharat-Mata, the methodology to study of Indian art, and the influence of the Greeks on Indian art. Similarly, the book touches upon certain issues, such as the concept of education, Swadeshi ideology, Christian missionary activities, understanding Indian music, and the inter-relationship between music and education in India. About the Author Ananda K. Coomaraswamy (22 August 1877–9 September 1947) is a Ceylon-based metaphysician, historian, theorist, and philosopher of Indian art. He brought the Indian tradition of art into the western world. He was also seen as the bridge-maker between western and Indian art and philosophy, as he was much inspired by Hindu and Greco-Roman traditions. His works were influenced by the Traditionalist and Perennial Schools of Philosophy. He authored several books which were based on
